What’s in a box?
From late June through October, our CSA runs the full course of Minnesota’s growing season, from fresh spring flavors to hearty fall staples.
-
In June, we grow early crops like radishes, carrots, beets, lettuce mix, romaine lettuce, arugula, broccolini, bok choy, kohlrabi, kale, chard, hakurei turnips, spinach, snap peas, green onions (scallions), pea shoots.
-
Most of our spring crops linger into July, but peak summer veggies also come on this time of year. Think tomatoes, watermelon, garlic, onions, zucchini, potatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, and green beans.
-
In the fall, some of our cool-season spring crops come back online.
However, this time of year, they’re also joined by the deep flavors. of hearty fall crops like peppers, leeks, shallots, butternut squash, delicata squash, cauliflower, broccoli, sweet potatoes, celery, winter radishes, turnips, and brussels sprouts.

Frequently asked questions
-
Most of our first-time CSA members start with the every-other-week share!
It's a great way to ease into CSA, try cooking with the seasons, and get a feel for how a box of fresh veggies fits into your summer routine.
-
If you're considering our every-other-week CSA but aren't sure you can eat a whole box in one week, here's something to keep in mind: You don't have to!
Each box contains a mix of vegetables you'll want to eat right away and others that can last well into the second week.
For example, cucumbers and zucchini are best eaten fairly quickly, but our salad mix lasts 10+ days, and properly stored carrots, onions, and potatoes can last for months!
We'll show you what to eat first and what can wait, with storage tips at every pickup so you can enjoy your box over the full two weeks.
And if that's still more than your household needs, you're always welcome to split a share with a friend!
-
Absolutely! Sharing a CSA is a great option for smaller households.
You'll just need one person in charge of the account, or you'll need to share your login to coordinate swaps, skips, and pickups.
-
Our CSA is a farmer's-choice box, representing what's fresh and in season on the farm.
We offer a limited number of vegetable swaps each week, but not every item can be swapped.
If your household has highly restrictive dietary needs, our CSA might not be the best fit. We want to make sure you're bringing home vegetables you can actually enjoy!
-
Via our online platform, you can skip any scheduled box by the Tuesday before your pickup.
Members get 1 skip with $45 credit per season.
After your included skips, you can still skip as often as needed! We'll donate an equivalent value of produce to the McLeod County Emergency Food Shelf.
Can't make pickup yourself or want to give your box to a friend while you’re away? You're welcome to send someone else! Just make sure they know to grab the box with your name on it.
-
You can use your $45 skip credits on anything available in our members-only online farm store, from extra herbs and greens to bulk produce.
Shop Monday through Tuesday, and your extras will be waiting alongside your next CSA box. We'll apply earned skip credits to your account before your next pickup.
Credits must be used by the end of the CSA season in October. Any remaining balance will be used to donate an equivalent value of fresh produce to the local food shelf.
-
Yes. Your payment reserves your spot for the season and helps us purchase the seeds, supplies, and other things we need to grow your vegetables.
If paying upfront isn't possible for you, please reach out. We're happy to see if we can work something out!
Because we plan and purchase supplies around our memberships, we don't offer standard cancellations or refunds, although we may consider exceptional circumstances.
-
Not ready for a full-season commitment? We get it!
If we have availability, we'll offer a limited number of one-time CSA boxes for purchase throughout the growing season.
CSA members get the best per-box price, a reserved spot in our harvest, and access to all the membership perks!
-
We ask members to choose their share frequency and pickup location for the full season.
We aren't able to switch between weekly and every-other-week subscriptions once you've signed up.
If you absolutely need to change your pickup location, contact Carly and we'll see what we can work out!
-
That's farming! Weather and growing conditions can be unpredictable.
The beauty of growing so many different vegetables is that if one crop struggles, we usually have others to fill in.
If we ever have a lighter box because of a tough growing season, we'll make up the difference with extra vegetables later in the season. Our goal is to make sure you receive the full value of your CSA!
-
Your vegetables will be packed in a labeled ¾-bushel box, ready for you to grab during your Thursday pickup window.
Simply take the produce and its liner home, or transfer everything into your own reusable bags. Please leave the box behind so we can reuse it!
If you realize you can't make it in time, contact us before the pickup window closes. We may be able to hold your share. Boxes missed without notice will be donated to the local food pantry.
